CHILDREN in Barnsley can show their creative sides at locations all over the borough in the Children's Festival which starts on Saturday, 27 May and runs until Sunday, 11 June.
Local children are encouraged to take part in arts and crafts activities at Cannon Hall, Cooper Gallery, Worsbrough Mill and other locations around Barnsley.
Events include milling day, you're the expert, puppets and storytelling, music in the park, hug a bug and live brass band music.
One of the highlights of the festival will be a live performance by Vincent Dance Theatre at the Cooper Gallery, on Saturday, 10 June. Blending physical theatre, movement, puppetry and live music, Fairy Tale is a dark and delightful production full of love, laughter and the odd disaster.
It is aimed at children aged six to eight years old and their families. Full of surprising twists and turns, Fairy Tale is guaranteed to enchant both younger and older audiences alike. Performances are at 11.30am and 1.30pm.
The festival has been organised by Barnsley Council and is sponsored by local housing developer Ben Bailey Homes.
Further information is available from Barnsley Tourist Information Centre, located in the Central Library, 01226 206757. A brochure giving full details of Children's Festival events taking place in Barnsley is available.
