Term, Holiday and Other Closure Dates

The majority of Barnsley schools (community, voluntary controlled and voluntary aided) adopt the following holiday patterns. Each school also has an additional five inset days every year which are agreed with their governing body. Schools will notify parents of these dates by 'pupil post'.

• Standard holiday dates 2008-09
• Standard holiday dates 2009-10
• Standard holiday dates 2010-11
• Standard holiday dates 2011-12

There are a few exceptions. Voluntary aided schools determine their own holiday pattern. Some choose to follow the standard pattern, whilst others prefer to follow the pattern of neighbouring authorities, depending on their location.
