Construction work continues apace on the new ALCs at Carlton, Darton, The Dearne, Kirk Balk and Penistone - the first phase of Barnsley's Building Schools for the Future programme.
Carlton steelwork is almost complete and glazing work is scheduled to begin next month.
Darton road works on Ballfield Lane have been completed with the formation of a new roundabout linked to the site access road. Steelwork has started and will expand in the next few weeks to give a clear impression of how the building will sit within the surrounding landscape. Lift shafts have also been installed.
Dearne foundations are complete and steelwork is progressing well. Lift shafts and staircases have been installed. Next month will see the seeding of sports pitches and the laying of the sports hall floor.
Kirk Balk foundations and steelwork are well underway and lift shafts have been installed. Next month should see the completion of foundations and the installation of floor slabs and stairs.
Penistone foundations and steelwork are also progressing well and lift shafts installed. The assembly hall pre-cast seating is in place. Foundations and steelwork should be completed next month and roofing will begin on some areas.
