Anyone wishing to put building materials on a footway or road which is a public highway requires a licence from the Council''s Strategic Highway Maintenance Section.
Anyone wishing to place building materials on the public highway.
On receipt of the completed application form and appropriate fee, a site meeting will be arranged with the Council''s Inspector and the applicant, in order to fully assess the application. In some circumstances the Police may also attend this meeting.
The licence will subsequently be issued to allow the work to proceed, including any conditions that the Council or Police may have applied.

There is a charge of £100.00 to process the licence.
We normally request a cheque to be forwarded with the completed application form, made payable to ''Barnsley MBC''.

Please give adequate notice of the works (at least 5 working days, unless it is an emergency).
Provide as much information as possible, for example the reason for the works, the location and the proposed duration.
Inform the Council of any changes necessary to the agreed licence.

On receipt of the fee and agreeing to the conditions of the Licence works can commence within the highway straight away.
