The Council as highway authority is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all roads in the borough, except private roads, motorways and trunk roads.
Anyone may report a pothole to us.
A pothole is when the surface of the highway has eroded and a hollow formed. The criteria for attention is determined by the severity and the risk it poses to road users.
Factors which determine which action is to be taken include:

Please provide the street name and details of the location, such as 'in the road outside number 22'. It will also help us if you could provide an approximate guide to the size and depth of the pothole.

The Council will investigate the severity of the pothole and consider any necessary repairs.
We aim to repair any potholes which could present a potential danger to road users within 24 hours of them being notified to us.
Some less severe potholes may be considered for repair as part of a programme of patching works or resurfacing.
