School Crossing Patrol - Employment Opportunities in Barnsley

Hours of duty

Actual times may vary from school to school, the usual commitment would be for up to 45 minutes in the morning and similarly in the afternoon, at the times when children are walking to and from school.

Pay

The rate of pay is £6.77 per hour. You will be paid a monthly salary commensurate with hours worked including the school holidays

Training

Full training is provided on-site and all patrols are issued with full protective uniform. All applicants have a CRB check and an initial medical, which is repeated annually for those over 65. Continued employment is on the basis of passing this medical.

The benefits

Many patrols speak of the pleasure they get from working in what is a responsible and worth while job. They enjoy the regular contact with the children and parents.

Being outside each day, if only for short periods, the exercise of the job and walking to and from the site help maintain good health. Many patrols have commented that it helps them to keep young and that they enjoy being valued and helping vulnerable road users.
