The Household Waste Collection service provides a wide range of waste collection and disposal services including kerbside collection of household waste via wheeled bins. Deferent areas of the Barnsley Borough are currently on different types of collection:
All domestic premises in the Barnsley borough.
All properties should have a wheeled bin for household waste disposal. You can help by ensuring that your bin is placed on the kerbside, without causing an obstruction, preferably the night before or at least by 6.00am on the day of collection.
Collection takes place on a four day week from Tuesday to Friday.
The cost of domestic waste disposal is included in the annual council tax charges although there is a small charge for special collections.
However there may be a charge for the delivery of bins to a property if the bin is lost or stolen. Please contact us to find out about this.

It is estimated that each household in Barnsley produces almost 1 tonne of waste which mostly goes to landfill. Not only is this a waste of resources but it causes long term damage to the environment.
Barnsley Council is raising awareness of the need to deal with our waste in a more responsible manner by reducing, reusing and recycling waste. The majority of households in Barnsley now have containers for recycling and there are a number of recycling centres throughout the borough. We hope that you will join with us in improving the environment, reducing the waste sent to landfill in the grey bin by using your recycling facilities to the maximum.
