Summary

Clinical waste disposal from private households includes the safe collection and disposal of items like hypodermic needles, incontinence pads and dialysis waste. We will provide confidential information, advice and a free disposal service for clinical waste from private households.

We will provide you with yellow bags and boxes for sharp items and inform you of the collection day.

Eligibility

This service is available for residents of Barnsley borough.

Procedure

You will need to contact the Waste Management helpline to request the service and provide details of the clinical waste to be collected.

You will then be informed of your collection day - this is a weekly service.

How the customer can help

It is important that you clearly identify the type of clinical waste to be collected, as this will have an effect on the type of equipment we will use to remove such waste.

You should give clear details of the address from which the waste is to be collected and ensure that the clinical waste is clearly visible at the front of the property from 6.00am on the day of collection.
