The Council does not deal with hazardous waste from businesses but some household waste is now classed as hazardous and there are some facilities in place for householders to dispose of certain items.
Businesses should use the local telephone directory and trade directories to find an appropriate contractor to dispose of hazardous waste from their business.
The following items of domestic waste are classed as hazardous waste and there are facilities for their disposal/recycling at some or all household waste recycling centres:
Domestic Freezers
Domestic Refrigerators
Televisions
Computer Monitors
Fluorescent Light Tubes
Asbestos
Gas Cannisters (domestic size)
Any other hazardous waste should be disposed of by the householder using an approved contractor, details of which can be found in local trade and telephone directories.
