Fortnightly Dry Kerbside Collection of Glass, Cans and Paper
The Household Waste Collection service provides a kerbside recycling collection for glass and paper from domestic properties. Collection is normally alternate weekly with a green box/slim bin for glass, and a blue bag/slim bin for paper.
During 2005 a pilot segregated weekly collection service in 28,000 properties was introduced. Residents will receive a kerbside collection of garden waste and thin cardboard one week and the residual bin the following week supported by kerbside collections of glass, cans and paper on a fortnightly basis.
To find out if your property is part of the pilot scheme please contact the Waste Mangement Helpline.
Information leaflets on the scheme can be downloaded from the File attachments section to the right of the page.
All domestic premises in the Barnsley borough.
Some new properties and some classed as "hard to reach" do not receive this service at present but the service is currently expanding to include these properties.
You can help by ensuring that your box/bin and bag/bin are placed on the kerbside, without causing an obstruction, preferably the night before or by 6.30am on the day of collection ready for our crews to collect from 7.00am.
Collection takes place on a four day week from Tuesday to Friday
