Hospice care for children in Barnsley is provided by Rainbows Children's Hospice, which is near Loughborough in Leicestershire. Alternatively the outreach nursing team at Barnsley District General Hospital (BDGH) provide a palliative care service in the home.A new Hospice service for children in South Yorshire is currently being developed. This is called Bluebell Wood and is being built in Dinnington. 'Hospice in the Home' is available now and referrals can be direct from families or via a doctor or other professional worker.Further information is available by calling 0845 1081579

According to individual circumstances referrals can be made by any professional who is involved but the consultant will always be contacted.In some cases it is possible for families to contact the hospice directly.
