Thank you for visiting our pages about fostering a Barnsley child or young person.
We provide safe, caring homes for children and young people who aren’t able to live with their birth families. We do this by working closely with our foster carers, children and young people, their social workers and birth families.
There is always a need for more foster carers – so we are always ready to welcome you as a new foster carer. We have over 100 approved foster carer households throughout Barnsley, but we need more people to take up this unique challenge. We always need more foster carers. The more foster carers we have, the higher the chance we have of finding the right family for each child, and so the more confident we can be that the placement will work really well for everyone.
Fostering gives you choices. You can foster for weekends, weeks, months or years. You can foster one child or brothers and sisters. You can do different kinds of fostering, and foster children of different age groups- babies to teenagers.
Looking after vulnerable children is not the easiest task in the world – but the rewards can be endless. Knowing you are making a difference to a young person’s life is very fulfilling and a vital part of their future.
