The Community Rehabilitation Order (CRO) has now replaced the Probation Order. A CRO can be made on young people aged 16 or above. It is an order made by the court which is intended to help young people, avoid further offending. A CRO can be made for between 6 months and 3 years.
If a young person is made subject to a CRO they must:
For the first 12 weeks of a CRO the young person must have a minimum of two weekly contacts with the YOT. The main focus of the order is on addressing offending behaviour and helping the young person to re-integrate into the community.
Courts can also attach special conditions to CROs which might direct where a young person should live, curfews, or participation in specific programmes.
