Arrest Referral

The Arrest Referral service is available at the Police Station. If young people are arrested, they can speak to a Drug Worker. The service is available for all young people who are arrested and require drug/alcohol service.

When a young person is arrested they can request to see a drug/ alcohol worker. A worker will either see them at the police station or arrange another convenient place.

Response Times / Next Steps

The Arrest Referral Worker will arrange to see the young person at a suitable time. The young person will then be referred to the BARN if necessary and offered an appointment within 5 working days.

Out of Hours Procedure

The service does not operate out of hours. However, the Arrest Referral Worker will arrange to see the young person at a convenient time.
