Barnsley Adult Placement Scheme provides people with a learning disability a servicewhich they can access and use flexibly for respite placements, long term placements and even day care placements.
Each person using adult placement must have a registered learning disability, be at least 18 or in transition, and have an assessed need with an attached worker.
Each person is assessed by their worker for a service, if the outcome is for adult placement then we look at the individual''s information, meet with them and their family, match adult placement carers to them, look at initial visits and tea visits and begin the process of having placements with the chosen carers.
When an individual is referred to the Adult Placement Scheme we try and make an initial call within 5 days. This could be a telephone call or an initial visit. We then move the process on from there.
