Protection Order

A protection order is an application to Court of protection or Public Trust Office to act on behalf of an adult who is no longer of sound mind 

A protection order is available to anyone acting in the best interest of the adult without capacity.

Anyone who currently holding an Enduring Power of Attorney must register with Court of Protection

Procedure

Application to the Court of Protection or Public Trust Office using specific application forms from Public Guardianship Office (PGO) or some solicitors may have the forms, but there may be a charge

Additional Notes

Local Authority may seek guidance from Court of protection for individuals without formal support network, to protect their assets, should they become incapacitated.
