The archive collections cover a wide range of material from local business collections and council records to family collections.
These collections contain much information of use to local and family historians, such as certificates, photographs and diaries.They may also contain material about peoples working lives and their education.
Many of these collections are fully catalogued and are available in the search room, along with a comprehensive card index. Our eventual aim is to have our catalogues online for you to search through.
There is also a miscellaneous personal name card index, which contains names taken from various sources within the archives and local studies section.
Summary descriptions of thousands of archives from across Yorkshire and England are being mounted on the National A2A Website.

Billingley estate plan from 1779
Papers relating to Barnsley’s Tommy Taylor and the Munich disaster
Material relating to the Public Hall disaster of 1908
