Cannon Hall - Group Visits

Group Visits

Cannon Hall Museum, Park and Gardens can cater for group visits. Please let us know in advance if you are bringing a group. Guided tours of the museum or gardens can be arranged in advance (charges apply). Please telephone or email in advance if you are a group wishing to visit the Museum or if you want to arrange a guided tour. We can then advise on availability and prices if applicable.

Please note for your comfort and enjoyment Cannon hall operates a No smoking policy

Charges/Fees

  • £30 for a guided tour of the Museum for up to 30 people.  (If there are more than thirty people the group would have to split in two and an additional fee paid)
  • Guidebooks from £1
Payment can be made by Credit/debit cards, cash or cheque payable to Barnsley MBC on the day

April - October
Wednesday - Friday 10.30am - 5pm.
Saturday and Sunday 12 noon - 5pm.
Last Admissions 4.15pm

November, December and March
Open Sundays only 12 noon - 4pm
Last Admissions 3.15pm

January and February
Closed to the general public
(N.B. Open for weddings, conferences, group and school visits only)

Q:  Can I bring a group to Cannon Hall?
A:  Yes, please let us know when you are arriving

Q:  How much does a group visit cost?
A:  Admission to the museum is free (car park charges apply). A guided tour of the museum or gardens costs £30 for up to 30 people.  Please contact the museum directly for prices relating to tailor made visits or an evening guided tour.

Q: Can we arrive by coach?
A: Yes, your coach driver can drop you off outside the Hall if you have people in your party with mobility problems, but must re-park in the main car park. Coach parking charge is £5.00.

Q: Do you have a guidebook?
A: Yes, they are available from the museum shop priced £1. Please let us know in advance if you require a large number

Q: Is there a café?
A: Yes, the Tea Rooms are open at weekends and school holidays. Catering can be arranged outside these times - please call us in advance to arrange, or to make a booking for the café.  The Pavilion café in the park is open daily throughout the year - again please arrange group visits in advance.

Q: Is there a shop?
A: Yes, our shop sells a range of Cannon Hall gifts, confectionery and local books

Q: Do you have toilets?
A: Yes there are toilets in the main car park and at the Hall.  Accessible toilets are available in both locations.

Q: Is the museum fully accessible for wheelchair users?
A: The ground floor and café are accessible. Unfortunately we do not currently have a lift to the first floor (where the museum of the 13th/18th Royal Hussars and Light Dragoons and the glass collection are located - please call us if you require access to a particular room or exhibit).
