Sports and Active Recreation - Activities for Older People

What do we offer?

 

• Residents aged 60+ can now swim for free at Barnsley Premier Leisure swimming pools with a Passport to Leisure card.  Barnsley residents eligible can access a wide range of activities at discounted rates.  Please see link for further details.

• There is an 'Evergreen' club at the Metrodome on Thursdays between 9:00am and 3:30pm for anyone over the age of 50.

The cost is £4.20 (with a Passport to Leisure card), activities include:

• Swimming Bowls
• Badminton
• Aqua Aerobics
• Line Dancing

• The Barnsley Sport & Activity Forum provides sport and physical activity opportunities for older people.

• Barnsley MBC Sport & Active Recreation in conjunction with Barnsley MBC Planning and Transportation and Fit for the Future have produced a series of Walking Guides for around the borough.  Download a copy of the individal area walking maps:

Charges/Fees

 

Most activities provided by Barnsley Sport & Activity Forum are free of charge wherever possible. On occasions charges have to be made but these are kept to a minimum.

 

Opening Times/Locations

 

The Sport & Active Recreation section can be contacted between 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Thursday; 9:00am - 4:30pm, on Friday.
