Building Control is responsible for ensuring a healthy and safe built environment within the borough. This is achieved by ensuring that new building works comply with the National Building regulations.
The Building Regulations legislate for:
- The health, safety and welfare of people in and around buildings.
- The conservation of fuel and power.
- The provision for access and facilities for the disabled.
What services do we provide?
- Checking submitted drawings, specifications and calculations for compliance with the Building Regulations
- Inspecting building works within the borough to ensure that they are constructed in such a way that they are at least to the acceptable minimum standards set out in the Approved Documents.
- Dealing with any reported Dangerous Structures.
- Issuing Street Names and Numbers.
- Public Entertainment Licensing.
- Safety of Sports Grounds
