A graduation event for learners on the Young Apprenticeship Programme takes place at the Civic, Hanson Street on Tuesday, 29 June from 6.30pm to 9pm.
The annual event celebrates the achievements of the Year 11 learners on the programme, as well as acknowledging the support from the local community, including employers, the voluntary sector, and education and training providers.
The learners come from a wide range of Barnsley secondary schools and have committed themselves to this intensive two-year programme, completing a vocational qualification (BTEC First Diploma) within their chosen sector, as well as 50 days of work experience.
They will be presented with certificates and awards during the evening by the Mayor of Barnsley, Cllr Margaret Sheard.
The Graduation event also provides the learners with an opportunity to thank the employers and delivery partners for their support and commitment over the programme, through the presentation of certificates and awards.
During the evening, learners will perform and present activities to the audience, illustrating the skills and knowledge that they have developed over the programme.
The event will also help to raise awareness of the programme to others, helping to recruit further learners in the future, as well as market the programme to engage more employers, which in turn helps them to identify their future workforce.
Among guests helping celebrate the achievements of all the learners and partner organisations will be Cllr Linda Burgess, Cabinet Spokesperson for Children, Young People and Families and Edna Sutton, Executive Director, Children, Young People and Families
The graduation event is a fantastic opportunity to recognise the successes of the young people as well as the support of the local community especially local employers and education and training organisations.
