Article: Counselling and therapy for children and young people Article Body Significant life events like losing a parent, going through a divorce, experiencing trauma or some form of significant change, including changing schools or moving area can have a significant impact on a childs emotional wellbeing. Additional support in the form of therapy for your child following any of these, or similar events, may be helpful. Therapy can come in a range of forms, including counselling, play therapy, drama therapy and music therapy. The appropriate form of therapy often depends on the child or young persons age and reason for accessing the service. If you are concerned about your child then please talk to your GP or school nurse. They will be able to advise you and help you to access the appropriate service. Individual organisations offering counselling services for children will often produce information leaflets, which may be available through various outlets including doctors' surgeries and childrens centres.
