Article: Countryside - local access forums Article Body Local Access Forums (LAFs) were introduced by Sections 94 and 95 of the Countryside and Rights of Way (CRoW) Act 2000. Each LAF is a statutory body and its main function is to advise the appointing authority (for example, Barnsley Council) on improvements to public access for the purpose of open air recreation and enjoyment of the area. Represented groups Barnsley Local Access Forum is comprised of volunteers who represent both users of public rights of way or access land, and owners and occupiers of access land or land over which public rights of way pass. Members include: Local farmers/tenant farmers Cycling groups/clubs Walking groups/rambling bodies Equestrian bodies Naturalists Wildlife/agricultural advisory groups Motorised vehicle groups Disabled users General leisure users. The Barnsley Local Access Forum generally meet every two months to discuss issues relating to rights of way and public access within Barnsley.
