Early Childhood Services work with children, families, early years and childcare settings, and partner organisations to help ensure that every child is supported to achieve his or her potential. Our team is made up of professionals from all walks of life. Some have experience in early years and childcare, some have administrative backgrounds, some specialise in business, but we all have the same goal…to ensure that families and children in Barnsley have access to a wide range of services and the highest quality care available.

Early Childhood Services also work in partnership with colleagues in statutory, maintained, private, voluntary and independent organisations, other council services, such as safeguarding, and with those in health, to provide a wide range of support services to families, including those whose children need additional or specialist support.
This work, supported by legislation, such as the 2006 Childcare Act enables us to fulfil our responsibilities and commitments to families in Barnsley.
