Household waste recycling centres are for the disposal of household waste from your own domestic property only. There is no limit to visits as long as you are only bringing household waste from your domestic property. To avoid delays all waste should be seperated by the householder before it is taken to site. Other than those included in the list above, all non-recyclable household waste is accepted at any of the centres for land-filling, with the exception of the items listed below, which are not classed as household waste. Waste not accepted at any of Barnsley's Centres Rationale Car tyres Not classed as domestic/household waste & hazardous - Local tyre dealers will accept for a small disposal fee. Large quantities of building & construction waste ( more than 5 bags) Not domestic/household waste - would expect residents to obtain a skip. Our recycling centres will accept household waste and recycling and small amounts of domestic building waste & soil (up to five bags). For large amounts of building waste, we would suggest skip hire. Please see information sheet for further details. If you have difficulty lifting any items please ask one of our trained site operatives who will be happy to assist. PERMIT SCHEME Residents in domestic cars only do not need a permit to use the Household Waste Recycling Centres. We have introduced a new permit scheme which will allow permit holders to visit our Household Waste Recycling Centres up to twelve times each year. Please see our guide to the permit scheme leaflet for full details. Please note the opening time on this leaflet should read 9.00am for our sites at Smithies Lane, Goldthorpe and Penistone. Before applying for a permit, please note the following important information: Only residents of the Barnsley Borough can apply for a permit for the household waste recycling centres for thedisposal of household waste only. Permits will not be issued to Luton vans, pick ups (excluding 4 x 4's), long wheel based transit type vans, any twinaxled vehicles. You cannot use your permit to bring in any waste that relates to the business that the van is normally used for as the sites are for household waste only. Only one permit book will be issued per household, to cover up to two vehicles.Only one van per household will be allowed a permit. Permits will only be issued to vehicles at the address on the V5 registration document (please see note on companyvehicles). Permits consist of a maximum of 12 tickets per 12 month period and are not transferrable. Permits may be withdrawnwith immediate effect if you: Are using the site to dispose of business or none household waste Are not in the vehicle to which the permit relates Have not separated your waste for recycling before visiting Misuse the facilities or are abusive to staff or other users Have changed circumstances since the permit was issued There is a restriction on the amount of rubble/construction type material you can bring onto site of 5 x 25kg bags per visit (maximum of 6 times per year). This will constitute one permit in addition to permits for any other waste you bring on the same visit and your permit will be marked accordingly. All applications are subject to provision of the following documentation (photocopies are preferable ): Proof of residency: one of - council tax bill, tenancy agreemment/rent book, utility bill, bank statement, driving licence. Please ensure the documentation includes your name and address and is dated within the last 3 months) Proof of entitlement to drive the vehicle(s): vehicle registration certificate (V5/V5C), Company vehicles will require a letter from the owner (or their representative) on company notepaper givingpermission for the applicant to use the vehicle for thetransport of household waste Please do not submit original documents.Photocopies will be destroyed unless you request their return. You can apply by completing our permit application form or telephoning our helpline 01226 772045. Supporting documentation can be scanned and uploaded during the application or sent separately by post to the address below. Existing permit holders can renew online by completing our permit renewal form. You can advise us of any changes to your address, vehicle(s), or report a lost, stolen or damaged permit by completing our permit change of circumstance form. Please note that the book of twelve permits does not have an expiry date and does not need to be renewed annually.You need apply for a new permit booklet only when you are close to using up all twelve permits . ONE OFF BOOKINGS Residents who have not yet applied for or received their permit or have a vehicle on short term hire can request a one off booking to visit site. This will only be allowed once in 12 months and will require 12 hours notice to be given. The types of vehicle allowed to request this service are the same as for the permit scheme and the types of waste allowed into site are the same as for all other vehicles. NO COMMERCIAL WASTE IS ALLOWED ON SITE If our operatives suspect that any waste is not from a domestic property then permission to tip will not be granted and an enforcement officer may call and visit you to check the origins of the waste.
