Article: Licences - obstructions - building materials Article Body Barnsley Council requires that anyone wanting to place building materials on the highway have a licence. To apply for a licence you should contact the council and a site meeting will be arranged with the Highway Inspector and the applicant in order to fully assess the application. The maximum licence period is 5 days and the cost of the licence is £10 per day. Payment is made by cheque payable to Barnsley MBC. Please give adequate notice of the works (at least five working days, unless it is an emergency), and provide as much information as possible, for example the reason for the materials needing to be stored in the highway, the location and the proposed duration. You also need to inform the council of any changes necessary to the agreed licence.
