Article Body

Operators of public weighing equipment must hold a certificate of competence from a Chief Trading Standards Officer. Applicants will be expected to show that they can operate the weighbridge safely and correctly and complete all necessary paperwork satisfactorily. 

Procedure

 

Trading Standards should be contacted to discuss the procedure and to book a test.

The cost will depend on the length of the test and training required

Out of hours procedure

 

This service is available out of hours by prior arrangement. Please contact us using the helpline provided.

Additional notes

 

Certificates of competency are not transferable as they relate to specific equipment on a specified site.

Approximately 20 minutes

What happens if I fail the test?

The test can be re-taken after training/coaching, usually at the same appointment

Can I operate a public weighing machine without a certificate?

No, it is a legal requirement
