Article Body

Barnsley Council has a good track record in major housing-led regeneration initiatives. The Council works with Berneslai Homes, housing association partners and private sector developers to deliver a variety of regeneration programmes across the Borough.

Over the last 10 years or so the communities of Grimethorpe and Kendray have been radically transformed for the better as have towns and villages in the north-east of the Borough under the Green Corridor programme and areas of the Dearne Valley under the Housing Market Renewal Programme. More recently cuts in public funding have unfortunately resulted in a scaling back of regeneration activity but despite this schemes continue in locations such as New Lodge and Goldthorpe. For more information on these and other regeneration schemes please go to the Berneslai Homes website or the Council webpages on the regeneration of the Dearne Valley.
