Article Body

The following Public Health information, data and reports can be accessed via NHS Barnsleys website

Director of Public Health Annual Report 2010

This Public Health Annual report describes the health status of the local Barnsley population, to try and understand why it is as it is, and to identify ways to improve it. The report helps to raise awareness of health issues in the community, to create a momentum for action and to guide organisations who can influence the publics health in the decisions it makes on behalf of residents.

Barnsley Young People's Health Survey 2010

A survey about the health and lifestyles of Year 10 pupils attending secondary school in Barnsley 2010.

The report provides valuable information about the health and lifestyle choices that Barnsley young people make.  Comparisons with the findings from the 2008 survey and national data are made where possible. It will enable those providing services, support or care for young people to plan their provision more effectively.  Future surveys will enable us to continue to monitor the outcomes of current work to improve services.  These results will enable us to focus our work to achieve the priorities set out in Barnsleys Children and Young Peoples Plan 2009-12 and deliver on the Being Healthy Every Child Matters outcome.

Association of Public Health Observatories (APHO) Health Profile for Barnsley 2010

The 2010 APHO Health Profile provides a broad overview of the health status of each local authority in England, using key public health measures.  Profiles are issued annually and are designed to inform work involving health and local government to improve health and tackle inequalities.
