Children's centres are funded through the government's Early Intervention grant - this enables us to offer funded courses, so why not drop in at your local children's centre and try one of the great activities such as…

  • baby massage  is a great way to bond with your baby.  It helps your baby's digestion, provides physical exercise and can   relax your baby which could lead to a good night's sleep!  The course lasts for five weeks and is for babies from eight weeks to about seven months.
  • baby yoga  has some fabulous benefits; it gets you and your baby moving, it promotes speech and language development, supports balance and spatial awareness and also it'll put you and your baby in a good mood as it releases happy hormones! The course lasts six weeks and is for babies with head control up to about 12 months.
  • play workshops give parents some great ideas on how to entertain their children.  Play is really important for a child to develop and these workshops will provide you with the knowledge to turn everyday items into a new toy or game! There are different sessions available for children from three months to 18 months.
  • busy feet  is a fantastic session which gets children excited about healthy living!  The comments we've received from people taking part in the sessions have been really positive. One parent said  "As a mum it was amazing to see how happy and involved my boys were with the busy feet programme". There are different sessions available for different age ranges, starting from 18 months to five years.
  • weaning parties are a great way to introduce your baby to the world of solid foods!  They also give you a chance to talk to other parents and give you ideas on the sort of food to let your baby try.
  • adult learning courses It's not just about the children!  If you've been thinking about learning a new skill or refreshing an existing one you could start at your local children's centre.
  • walking groups are for anyone with children under five, including pregnant women and parents/carers with prams. Whatever your fitness level come along and enjoy a walk in the outdoors.
