Article Body

The Asset Management section manages the land and property owned by the council, including:

  • Sales of surplus land and property
  • Lettings of land and property
  • General queries relating to land and property

The council owns various industrial units and housing shops which are held as investments. The council also owns land and property held for future service requirements but are currently let to provide an income until such time as they are required for council use. This land is often let for grazing or garden purposes.

Information on property currently available to rent or buy can be found on the Land and Property Availability List

Some of the land or property owned by the council may not be actively marketed but may still be available to buy or rent. You can contact the council if you are interested in a particular piece of land or property, and enquire about its availability by completing the appropriate application form:

Application form to purchase or rent land

Application form to purchase or rent buildings

Application form to rent a residential property

Once an application has been received, it will be looked at individually and the relevant council departments will be consulted. The council does not hold information regarding land and property it does not own.
