Article: Community Safety Article Body Community services is the council's department responsible for addressing crime, anti-social behaviour and improving perceptions of public safety in Barnsley. To achieve this we work in partnership with South Yorkshire Police and Berneslai Homes to deliver a wide range of initiatives covering prevention, enforcement and support. Our core purpose is 'to provide an unrivalled service dedicated to improving the quality of life in our neighbourhoods, by working with our partners to protect the community from crime and disorder, and to promote community cohesion'. The community services consists of: The Safer Neighbourhood Teams The ASB Enforcement Team The Family Intervention Programme The Barnsley Estates Action Team The Community Safety Officers The team also deal with hate and hidden crime, domestic violence, sexual violence. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue works closely with the council and other partner organisations to help reduce incidents of arson in Barnsley. Deliberate fires account for around 80 percent of the blazes fire-fighters attend, so arson reduction is a key priority for the fire service.
