Your G.P will make a referral for you to Podiatry Service should you require medical assistance. The areas of medical and podatric services provided are listed below: Biomechanical assessment and treatment of gait abnormalities and muskulo-skeletal problems in children and adults. Ulcer and wound management of the lower limb. Specialist services for high risk diabetics including vascular and neurological tests and acupuncture for painful neuropathy. Treatment of painful heavy callous and corns. Surgical removal of in-growing toe nails under local anaesthetic. Monitoring and assessment of the at risk foot. Provision of simple insoles or orthoses for painful foot conditions. Measurements of abnormal pressures on the foot and those with compromised tissue viability, to prevent future deterioration.
