Article: Keeping Warm in Winter information Article Body Cold weather and winter conditions can pose an additional risk to health at this time of the year. This is particularly true for older people, families with young children and those who have chronic illness or who are vulnerable to illness due to a disability. The Governments Keep Warm, Keep Well is an annual campaign that provides useful advice on how to stay healthy during winter with information about financial advice and practical help that is available. If you own your own home or rent your home from a private landlord you may be eligible for financial help if your home is poorly insulated and/or you do not have a working central heating system. Please click here to find out more information about the Warm Front Scheme. There are a number of useful tips for keeping warm in winter in the Council's publication Forward From 50. You may be entitled to some additional financial help, especially during periods of very cold weather. For further advice please contact the Welfare Rights advice line on 01226 772360. The lines are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Useful Links Age Uk Keep Warm Keep Well NHS Barnsley Staying Warm in Winter
