Serving a wide area, Mapplewell and Staincross Library has ICT and Internet facilities together with disabled access, toilet facilities and a spacious car park. Adults will find a wide selection of books, distance learning materials, CDs, DVDs and spoken word tapes. There are large print and talking books for the visually impaired. The attractive children's library has a wide selection of books, story CDs and a small play area. There are two Reader's Groups which meet monthly. A weekly Parent and Toddler Group Storytime, delivered in conjunction with Darton Children's Centre takes place during term times. During the school holidays family art and craft sessions also take place. For further information and to confirm details of the groups please telephone the library. A Welfare Rights Advice session takes place every Wednesday morning between 9.00am and 12.30pm. Appointments can be booked by telephoning 772360. Mapplewell and Staincross Library is a public access building, Barnsley Council and the Primary Care Trust have worked in partnership with Disabled Go to develop an access guide for disabled people, their friends, family, carers and colleagues in relation to such buildings. More information is available on our Disabled Go webpage. A varied range of activities also take place in the Village Hall, these include a cafe, classes, and leisure activities.
