Who To Contact If You Are Worried About A Child - Flowchart. Text from the flowchart available within the page.

Article Body

In the event of an immediate risk to life and limb, the first contact should be with the police, either on 999 or 01142 202020.

The imbedded flowchart is intended to assist both professionals and members of the public who are concerned about the welfare of a child. It explains the flow of information depending on whether the concern is urgent and whether or not the child is known to have  a current social worker. The important thing is to share the information as soon as possible.

The wording of the flowchart, for those unable to access it is as follows:

Is your call URGENT?

If the day is Saturday, Sunday, a Bank holiday or after 17:00 (16:30 on a Friday) call the Emergency Duty Team on 08449841800.

If the day is a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thurdsay or Friday before 17:00 (16:30 on Fridays), or the call is not urgent, and your child has a social worker, call the social worker (if you know their details).

If you do not know the number for the social worker, and your child lives in the east of Barnsley, contact the Barnsley East Assessment Team:

The Cudworth Centre
Carlton Street

Barnsley
S72 8SU

Tel: 01226 438831 / 438852
