Silkstone Neighbourhood Plan

Silkstone Parish Council has submitted the Silkstone Neighbourhood Development Plan to us for independent examination. Under paragraph 16 of The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, we are publicising the plan.

The Neighbourhood Plan, if it passes the examination and a referendum, will become part of the statutory development plan for Barnsley and will be used in determining planning applications in the Silkstone Neighbourhood Area.

We’re seeking comments from those who live, work or do business in the Silkstone Neighbourhood Area and any consultation body referred to in the submitted consultation statement.

The Silkstone Neighbourhood Plan and evidence documents can be viewed online or at the Library @ the Lightbox and Penistone Library.

The views of those who participate in the consultation will be forwarded to the examiner, who will decide if the Plan meets the statutory tests for a Neighbourhood Plan, known as the basic conditions.

If the examiner decides that the Plan meets the basic conditions, Barnsley will have to decide whether to submit the Plan to referendum.

This referendum of people who live in the Silkstone Neighbourhood Area would determine whether the Plan should become part of the development plan for Barnsley.

Those who wish to comment on the Neighbourhood Plan will be asked to confirm if they want to be updated with progress on the Silkstone Neighbourhood Plan and, in particular, whether Barnsley decides to adopt the Plan as part of the development plan.

If you’d like to make a representation on the Silkstone Neighbourhood Development Plan, you can send it to us by email: neighbourhoodplanning@barnsley.gov.uk.

Submissions can be made in writing to Planning Policy, Regeneration and Culture, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, PO Box 634, Barnsley, S70 9GG.

Please note any comments you make may be made publicly available and attributed to you by name. We may be required to share your information with the examiner for the examination. We’ll also need to ask you to confirm if you are over 18 (and if not, we may have to ask for your parent or guardian’s consent for us to retain your data). Our privacy notice shows how we use your information.

We will keep the Silkstone Neighbourhood Development webpage up to date with progress.
