Barnsley Council will acknowledge the lives lost during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a one-minute silence at the Reverence memorial sculpture on Thursday, 23 March at 12.30pm.
‘Reverence’, the memorial sculpture by acclaimed sculptor Graham Ibbeson, commemorates those who lost their lives or loved ones during the pandemic, as well as serving as a tribute to key workers and unsung heroes, and is a place where anyone can go to remember and reflect.
Mayor of Barnsley Cllr Sarah-Jane Tattersall will lay a floral tribute on behalf of the council, and give a short speech, before leading the minute silence.
People are welcome to join the Mayor for this moment of reflection.
The Mayor said: “We want to continue to remember all those we have lost and those who continue to grieve.”
