Achieve your New Year goals with Adult Skills and Community Learning

The Adult Skills and Community Learning (ASCL) service are having an open day for new learners on Saturday 11 January. Everyone is welcome to come along from 9.30am - 3pm to Wellington House to find out more about new courses available between January and March. There will also be free taster classes in the week leading up to the open day.

ASCL offers a range of courses to help you get back into work, improve your wellbeing or get a qualification. The open day will provide the chance to talk to tutors, ask any questions you might have, and enrol on the day. A wide range of courses are available, including English, Maths, wellbeing subjects, working with children and more.

In the week running up to the open day, from Monday 6 to Friday 10 January, the ASCL wellbeing team will be running taster sessions to give people an opportunity to try a class before the open day. Call to book your place on 01226 775271. The free tasters include:

Councillor Tim Cheetham, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “January is a great time to start thinking about how you will achieve your goals for 2020. Adult Skills offers a fantastic opportunity to get a qualification, improve your wellbeing or get back into work.

“This is a relaxed open day, so you can talk to tutors in a non-pressure environment, to get advice and find out more about what you’d like to learn. I’d also encourage people to give the wellbeing free tasters a go, to see what type of course is best for you.”

The open day will take place at Wellington House, Floor 2.
