Following submission of the draft Barnsley Local Plan to the Secretary of State in December 2016, the independent examination of Barnsley’s Local Plan is continuing. A planning inspector appointed by the Secretary of State is conducting the examination.
Following four stages of Local Plan Examination hearings the council has now received notification from the Inspector that a number of changes to the plan, known as ‘Main Modifications’ are considered necessary to make the Plan capable of being found sound and legally compliant.
A public consultation on the proposed Main Modifications will therefore, run from 10am on Friday 13 July 2018 until 5pm on Tuesday 28 August 2018.
Full details setting out what the consultation covers, where documents can be viewed and how representations can be made, will be available on the Local Plan Examination web page and consultation portal at the start of the consultation.
