Roundhouse Library is set to become the next community library to see exciting updates to its facilities. The library will be closed between Friday, 10 February, and Wednesday, 8 March, while the refurbishment works take place. It follows the successful refurbishment of Hoyland Library last year and Dodworth Library, which is undergoing the works at the moment and is due to re-open its door in Spring 2023.
As part of the refurbishment, Roundhouse Library will get a new and more accessible reception, a bright and vibrant children’s area, and will see significant improvements to communal areas to create a space for drop-down working or studying. The works will also include new carpets and general repainting and decorating.
Following the re-opening, we hope to offer a range of new activities and events to local communities, including music sessions as part of the Biblio Beats programme, coffee mornings, social clubs and even more activities for children and young people.
Cllr Caroline Makinson, Cabinet Spokesperson for Public Health and Communities, said: “We are very excited to announce another significant refurbishment to one of our community libraries.
“The updated facilities and enhanced offer at Roundhouse Library will greatly benefit the local communities, and we cannot wait for you to see the updated spaces for yourselves.”
Residents are invited to visit Roundhouse Library and have a look at the plans, share their ideas, and talk to us about how they would like to see the library used in the future. Our Transformational Officer will be at the library available to speak to you on the following days:
- Tuesday, 24 January, 10am-1pm
- Wednesday, 8 February, 10am-1pm
We will be sharing more information about accessing library services during the closure in the coming weeks.
