Parents and carers can now apply for their child's preferred primary and secondary school places on our online portal, used by 98% of those applying last year.
Applying online for your child's school place for September 2022 is quick and easy, with our system helping parents and carers by:
- Checking applications for errors.
- Sending you an email confirming that your application has been received.
- Allowing you to find out your child's school place by email on National Offer Day, which is quicker than by post.
Using our online portal also removes the need to take a form into school and the risk of your application getting lost.
Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all you need to create an account and apply online is an email address.
The closing dates for submitting your applications are:
- 31 October 2021 for secondary schools.
- 15 January 2022 for primary schools.
Councillor Trevor Cave, Cabinet Spokesperson for Children’s Services, said: "It may feel a long way off, but choosing which schools to apply for is one of the most important decisions a family can make.
"We want Barnsley to be a place where children and young people can achieve their full potential. This is why we were delighted to see 93.8% of children receive an offer for their preferred primary school and 96.9% receive an offer for their preferred secondary school.
"It is important that you apply on time and identify three preferences. Apply online today and check out our school admissions webpage for all the information you need to make an informed choice for your child."
More information about the process, including a full list of schools in your area, is available in the 'Admission to School - Academic Year 2022-2023 Advice to Parents' booklet.
