Finding the perfect volunteering opportunity is about to get a whole lot easier with the new ‘Love Volunteering’ app. Launching on Tuesday 2 April, the new web-based app will be the new home for volunteering activities in the borough, making it simpler to find ways to #LoveIt by getting involved in your community.
With options to filter opportunities by location or activity types, people can volunteer to support causes that interest them.
To celebrate the launch of this new and exciting app, there will be a Love Volunteering Treasure Hunt running from Tuesday 2 April until Sunday 28 April. The fierce competition will be set over sixty-two locations or Treasure Troves where players can collect codes in the app. The more codes collected the higher the chance they have to win. Residents can download the app on the launch day and click on ‘Treasure Hunt’ where a full list of instructions will explain exactly how to get involved. It’s as simple as that!
If a new app and a treasure hunt aren’t enough, there will also be some fabulous prizes up for grabs with first prize for collecting the most codes being £250 worth of ShopAppy vouchers, helping you to enjoy the best Barnsley has to offer.
Wendy Lowder Executive Director for Communities, said: “This is a brilliant development for residents in our community helping them to access volunteering opportunities in a click and get involved in their communities.”
“I would encourage everyone to download the app and get involved in the treasure hunt it’s the perfect way to find volunteering locations and for families and young people to have some cheap holiday fun. Give volunteering a go.”
The web-based app will be available to download on all platforms at lovevolunteering.co.uk from Tuesday 2 April.
