Barnsley Council’s Housing and Energy team are looking forward to hosting a number of local Armed Forces Energy Action events over the next two weeks. The dedicated events are aimed at Barnsley’s Armed Forces community to help them take control of their energy bills and heat their homes more efficiently.
The events, which form part of the work of the Barnsley’s Armed Forces Community Covenant, take place on:
- Wednesday 15 May, 2pm to 7pm at Barnsley Central Library
- Monday 20 May, 4pm to 7pm at Hoyland Library
Any resident with a connection to the armed forces - whether that be ex-armed forces, current serving personnel or a family member are welcome and encouraged to attend. This includes those in work, on benefits or retired.
The team will be on hand to provide information, support and advice aimed at helping the armed forces community manage their heating better, including:
- The Barnsley Energy Tariff
- Reducing damp and condensation
- Keeping warm and well at home
- Heating and insulation with Better Homes Barnsley
This news is linked to Town Spirit, our new way of working better together. We believe, that if everyone in Barnsley does just one thing, we can make our borough a more welcoming place to live, work, invest and visit.
#LiveIt helps us to support the most vulnerable people, making sure they can access support at the earliest possible stage. #OwnIt by keeping your own and your family's health at its best, asking for support when you need it and looking out for your friends and neighbours.
