As part of the 'Blaze a Trail' theme, apprentices from a range of services shared their stories on why they were proud to work for the council.
Real apprentice stories were shared on social media, highlighting the learning they have experienced along the way and the benefits of an apprenticeship programme.
Armands, a former level 2 IT apprentice, shared how he worked his way up to his current role as a degree apprentice. Armands said: “I gained a lot of new skills and could experience how the workplace environment operates.”
“I was successful in gaining the newly appointed degree apprentice role. This new role has allowed me to study for a degree in IT and learn invaluable work experience at the same time, all while getting paid to do so. It was an opportunity I couldn’t let slip past, and I don’t regret a minute of it.”
The campaign featured a diverse range of apprentice opportunities at the council. Przemyslaw, an apprentice at Smithies Depot, shared some of his day-to-day activities, including undertaking repairs, routine servicing of all council vehicles, M.O.T preparations, electrical repairs, and vehicle diagnostics.
Cllr Alan Gardiner, Cabinet Spokesperson for Core, said: “Apprenticeships are a great pathway for people to gain new skills and flourish in their future career. The energy and enthusiasm that they bring to our services is to be celebrated, as well as their hard work and commitment to achieving their potential.”
