Barnsley’s local and parish election results announced

The votes have been counted for the local and parish elections, which took place across the UK on Thursday 4 May 2023.   

The total eligible electorate for Barnsley was 184,374.  

45,569 people voted, 26,319 were postal votes, resulting in a total of 24.72% turnout for the borough.

Sarah Norman, Chief Executive of Barnsley Council and Returning Officer for Barnsley, said: “I would like to thank residents for making your vote count and for getting on board with the new government voter ID requirement.   

“It’s a chance for you to have your say on who represents you on the priorities and services that you care about in your local area.  

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved in delivering this year’s successful elections.”
