The new Mayor said: “I’m incredibly honoured to be elected as the new Mayor of Barnsley for 2018/19 and I’m really looking forward to the year ahead. During my mayoral year, I’ve decided to celebrate the role of volunteers across the borough in our local communities and the amazing work they do.
“This is one of the reasons I’ve chosen to support Barnsley Hospice and BIADS through the Mayor’s Charity as they rely so heavily on the dedication and hard work of volunteers to deliver invaluable services.”
The Mayor will formally mark the start of his mayoral year with a special Civic Service to be held on Thursday 14 June, 6.30pm at St Mary’s Parish Church, Church Street and all residents are invited to attend and welcome the Mayor and Mayoress into their new roles.
