Barnsley's Armed Forces Day celebrations announced

Barnsley will be celebrating Armed Forces Day on Saturday 10 June from 9am to 4pm. This family event will offer a day full of fun, with a military parade, face painting, live entertainment, armed forces activities and much more.

Starting at 10.20am, the military parade will go along Church Street, Market Hill, Queen Street and will finish in the Glass Works Square, followed by a performance from the Yorkshire Military band at 11am.

Throughout the day, you can get stuck into a range of armed forces activities at the Glass Works Square, including an airsoft range, climbing wall, archery tag and an eSports bus. There will also be a bungee run and free face painting in the Mandela Gardens.

You’ll see walkabout entertainment, including the Living Statues and The Tank through the town centre.

The day is a great opportunity to learn more about the armed forces. It's also a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the armed forces community. Whether they be currently serving troops, service families, veterans or cadets.

The Mayor of Barnsley, Councillor James Michael Stowe, said: "I'm honoured to be joining Barnsley's armed forces celebrations on Saturday 10 June. This day is a fantastic opportunity for our communities to celebrate and thank the service men and women for their commitment and dedication.

"Everyone's welcome to attend. It would be great to see residents from across the borough unite to show our support for those who make up the armed forces community in Barnsley."
