Barnsley's big community clean up

The Love Where You Live campaign is encouraging Barnsley’s communities, schools and clubs to join in Barnsley’s Big Spring Clean from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 March 2018.

After last year’s resounding success where 508 volunteers collected over 700 bags of litter, Barnsley will once again be taking part in Keep Britain Tidy’s - Great British Spring Clean.

Across the borough, a variety of clean up events will be taking place. Area teams, community groups and charities will be hosting a range of litter picks and clean-up projects.

One event is celebrating the weekend with a climbing wall. Young people from Kendray and Worsborough are being encouraged to join in the big clean with the chance to try out the climbing wall afterwards.

If you wish to get involved in any of the events taking place around the borough, there is a full list of events at barnsley.gov.uk/springclean.

Cllr Jenny Platts, Cabinet Spokesperson for Communities, said: “The people of Barnsley who volunteer for these wonderful events always do us proud. I would encourage people to look at what is taking place in their local area and pop along. It gives you the chance to meet new people, get out and about and make a positive impact on the environment where you live.”
