Barnsley's special educational needs consultation opens

Give us your views on Barnsley’s Special Educational Needs provision for children young people with hearing and visual impairments.

Barnsley Council is reviewing the provision for special educational needs (SEN) children and young people with a hearing and visual impairment and is seeking your views.

Barnsley Council are consulting on;

  • Removing provision for which there is little demand and need can be met through local solutions.
  • Develop fair provision across the borough so that, regardless of where children live they can expect the same level and quality of provision.

Cllr Margaret Bruff, Cabinet Spokesperson for People (Children) said: " where possible children and young people should have their needs met in their chosen mainstream setting, and should have the opportunity to be educated alongside their peers in their local community.
